The original was handmade in mixed media art with fantastic texture and details. This is a hardcover lined journal. The cover is cast in durable oven-baked clay from the detailed original artwork by VM Studio in Taber, Alberta.

It has been carefully primed (UNFINISHED) and is now ready for YOUR personal artistic paint job.
A unique design, this eye-catching journal depicts a delicate dragonfly on a background of metal plates with hundreds of rivets and bolts.

Each journal is made-to-order upon receipt of payment. Please note that the front border will vary slightly for each journal, because I add them by hand after the casting.

◈ Dimensions
Unique textured artwork (primed, unfinished) on the outside cover of a standard composition notebook.
This journal contains approximately 200 lined pages (100 sheets) ready to be used.
Hard cover measuring approximately 9.75 inches tall by 7.5 inches wide.

◈ Upcycled
Mixed Media Journals by VM Studio are made in Alberta, Canada from 95% recycled materials. Very few new materials find their way into the process.
Most of my pieces and decorations are scavenged or upcycled, and many of the cogs and such are handmade in my studio.
I do most of my material shopping at thrift stores, in an effort to keep items out of the over-flowing landfills.
My journals make a small positive impact on the environment, so you can feel good about using something eye-catching, inspiring, AND environmentally-friendly.

◈ Handmade
Entirely hand-crafted by me in a smoke-free environment. I cover these notebooks in a mixed media art style - the originals incorporate a variety of different materials.
New/scavenged/upcycled/created pieces are arranged, secured, carved and secured with layers of adhesive to inspire a sturdy long life.
Each journal boasts fantastic detail - sure to enchant and inspire. You will find evidence they are made by hand in my art studio, such as paint smudges on the interior pages and other tiny imperfections that I like to call "artistic flair".
Primed custom cast hardcover journals are created from a handmade silicone mold, cast in oven-bake clay, baked to perfection, attached to the lined notebook using a strong adhesive, and primed in an off-white gesso - ready for your choice of paints.

◈ Colors
This journal is primed but UNPAINTED. Please also view my other listings for custom painted options.
The journals are photographed in diffused natural light to show the details as accurately as possible, but please remember that individual screens can give different color casts to items.
Primed custom cast hardcover journals are primed with white and grey gesso, but you may notice tiny colorful smudges and dots from their creation in my colorful and chaotic art studio.
Upon completion (after your paint is dry) I recommend spraying with a clear topcoat to protect your finished art.
